Our Community Outreach Program is designed to ensure that every item in our shop—whether it’s a gently-used jacket, a reliable pair of boots, or camping equipment—has the chance to make a difference.
Through our consignment model, customers bring in used gear to be sold in-store. However, not all items find new homes. When gear doesn’t sell within the agreed-upon consignment period, consignors have the option to pick up their gear. Many chose not to take their gear back and that’s where our outreach program steps in.
We partner with local nonprofit organizations serving individuals and families who can benefit directly from this type of gear—such as Manna Soup Kitchen and Southwest Conservation Corps. Donated items go straight into the hands of people who need them most, not into a landfill. This program keeps usable gear out of storage or waste streams and puts it into immediate, meaningful use—whether it’s helping someone stay warm, get outdoors, or start fresh.
Together with our consignors and community partners, we’re creating a cycle of sustainability, access, and mutual support. Everyone deserves the right gear to face life’s next adventure—we are grateful to help make that possible.
In 2019, we transformed a recognizable local landmark—a former Pizza Hut building—and moved our shop across town into the fresh new space where we remain today.
As part of our sustainability commitment, we installed solar panels on the sloped “hut” roof, taking full advantage of its orientation and surface area. The solar array now supplies a significant portion of the store’s electricity needs, reducing our reliance on nonrenewable energy sources and lowering our operational carbon footprint.
In conjunction with the remodel, an electric vehicle (EV) charging station was added to the parking lot. This upgrade supports eco-conscious transportation options and serves as a convenient amenity for customers visiting the shop. By repurposing a dated building, installing renewable energy systems, and creating a community-centered retail experience, the remodel marked a key step in our mission to promote reuse, sustainability, and outdoor access for all.
Our business is proud to be recognized as a certified Green Business through the Four Corners Office for Resource Efficiency (4CORE). This certification reflects our deep commitment to environmental responsibility, sustainability, and community well-being. Through 4CORE’s Green Business Certification program, we’ve taken concrete steps to minimize our environmental impact across all areas of operations.
Our partnership with 4CORE and participation in their Green Business Certification program is more than a badge—it's a roadmap. It helps us continually evaluate, improve, and innovate in how we serve both our customers and the planet. By shopping with us, you’re not just supporting local—you’re supporting a business that’s actively working to make a positive impact. Learn more about the program at fourcore.org
