Ya know that feeling? The adrenaline, the excitement of falling in love with a new activity and knowing you need more! We value new experiences that our beautiful outdoors has to offer. We hope our shop inspires adventures from boating on the Animas River to cross-country skiing the San Juans. Come find gear for your next adventure at Durango Outdoor Exchange!
Durango Outdoor Exchange provides the opportunity for our community to give gear a second life. Shopping and selling locally supports your friends and neighbors. We’re grateful to be able to provide this opportunity to our community and look forward to meeting new friends, hearing stories and supporting all of you in your next outdoor adventures.
We also love the opportunity to support those who contribute to the health and vitality of our community. In 2017 we started Give Back Days to provide an opportunity to learn about the exceptional non profit organizations in our community and do our part to give back. We hope you’ll join us on the first Sunday of each month to shop for a cause and support great people doing great work!
We recognize the incredible beauty of the land in which we live, work and play. Durango Outdoor Exchange prides itself in being a steward of the environment and we want to do all we can to reduce, reuse and recycle in the name of preservation. Buying and selling used items reduces the impact on the environment by keeping unwanted items in-use and out of landfills. Local commerce reduces carbon emissions by limiting extra transportation. By shopping and selling with us, you’re doing your part too.
Durango Outdoor Exchange strives to be a gear store for everyone. We hope you feel a sense of community and place the minute you walk through the door. Whether you are brand new to a sport and looking for guidance or just in for your weekly check on sweet used gear finds, we are so happy you’re here. We are thankful for each and every customer and consignor and feel lucky we get to continue growing in our dream jobs. And now, for the introductions…
We are Jen and Chase LaCroix, Owners of the Durango Outdoor Exchange. We are grateful for all that Durango and the surrounding areas have to offer and spend as much time as possible enjoying the variety of outdoor activities we've come to love.
I like Pina Coladas and long hikes on mountain sides. Just being outside going places i have yet to be makes me happy. But skiing makes me the happiest.
I fell in love with Durango, for it’s beautiful outdoors and for the beautiful weirdos I go adventure with. I’m well known for bringing the wrong footwear to the trailhead. You can find me hanging out on the boulders at Sailing hawks.
I love human powered adventures of all kinds, but river trips have a special place in my heart. Living in Durango to maximize my time in beautiful places with wonderful people!
Exploring in the form of outdoor adventure gets me going! Happy to carry the beer on any outing. Endlessly appreciative to be living, working and playing on the ancestral lands of Nuchu (Ute), Apache, the Pueblos, Hopi, Zuni, and the Diné Nation.
I spend my time mountain biking, skiing, rock climbing, white water rafting, and just loving the outdoors. I was born and raised In Taos New Mexico where I began my enjoyment of being outside. I have now lived in Durango for four years pursuing a degree in Environmental Science at Fort Lewis College and continuing to enjoy the outdoors more and more every day.
I’ve always had a passion for the outdoors! I love to challenge myself with new things and learn as much as I can about the sports I pick up. My favorite things to do are snowboarding in winter and mountain biking in the summer, but I’m always down to try new things!
"I'm SO happy you're here!" If Copper could talk, you'd know how thankful he is for a few pets and a smile. A lover of all people and just simply thrilled to greet everyone who walks in the shop.
Tin is a special gal. She loves hanging out with her friends and getting outside. Mellow and sweet Tin will melt you. You can find her at the shop hard at work.
